This series consists of correspondence, country plans, memorandums, airgrams, notes, and reports pertaining to the organizational and operational activities of the U.S. Information Agency's posts in Iceland. Included are records relating to Communism, fisheries, elections, effectiveness, cultural affairs, and propaganda. Also included is a photograph and short story relating to the marriage of "American Flyer" 1st Lieutenant Robert K. Wheeler and "a lovely Icelandic girl" Maria Thorbergadottir (file "6.0 Military Affairs, 1962") and records relating to geological training for United States Astronauts in Iceland (files "5.45 Science, Space, and Medical Affairs, 1965" and "SCI - Science and Technology, 1967"), including the visit of United States Astronaut Neil Armstrong (file "PPB - Press and Publications - General, 1967"). Some of these files are in Icelandic.
